Care for Respiratory Illnesses

Throughout the pandemic we have taken great care to maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff.  This is still important as many of our patients have cancer and are receiving chemotherapy or are otherwise immunocompromised. It is also important to protect the very young, the old and the immunocompromised from influenza.

We are still seeing patients with cold and flu symptoms but will see them in our purpose built viral room.

We have outlined our process below. You will receive a link to this page when you make your appointment. Please be polite to our staff – we are trying our best to help you. Patients who are rude, intimidating or threatening will no longer be able to receive care at our iHealth Centre – we have a zero tolerance policy for abuse.

Telehealth first

We will assess your symptoms via a video or telephone consultation. 80% of diagnostic information is obtained via a patient history. This 10 minute or longer assessment allows us to determine if you need to be seen face to face. It also allows the face to face visit to be shorter, allowing us to see more patients with viral symptoms.

Please use Welio to have your consult so that we can see you and assess you more accurately.

Face to face assessment

We will see you in our viral room. Please wait outside or in our viral waiting room. We encourage you to wear your mask for your own protection. We will ask you to take of your mask if we need to examine your mouth or throat.

We will be wearing protective equipment. The room has a HEPA filter running continuously and a dedicated air conditioning circuit.

We will keep this examination brief. We will provide you written advice and prescriptions while you wait outside. We usually take our notes in our main consult room and may email you our notes and prescriptions and referrals.

We are here to support you

If you have COVID or another illness we are here to support you. Please contact us if you are COVID positive on a RAT or PCR test. We will assess you and arrange any specialist review or medication as necessary. For more information on caring for yourself or your family with COVID see our webpage here – https://www.ihealthcentre.com.au/indooroopilly/about-our-practice/covid-positive-healthcare/

Our AirClean8 HEPA units are Australian made  by Inovaaire and run continuously and filter roughly 7-8 air exchanges per hour (more information here).

The clinic has maximised fresh air flow and has a large volume of air space.

We have taken the time to design a service which can care for you in any eventuality. Please work with us so that we can support you and our community.

Merry Christmas
