John Bingley

Counsellor
M.Couns

There are times when you feel lost in life. Your stories, often unspoken, deserve to be found and told and heard, because they describe your path. John’s integrated approach to counselling focusses on the values and meaning-making of your life’s stories that map how you got to where you are and where you are going. John completed a Master of Counselling, the better to help you find your voice, yourself and your way through.

A medical doctor since 1988, John spent 20 years as a Vascular Surgeon where he saw and felt the profound challenges and meaning, grief and loss, that disease and death present to those who suffer, their families and friends. John knows how loving and caring for others, while fulfilling, can blur perspective, steal opportunity, affect our relationships, and obscure our sense of who we are and what our purpose is.

His own path has its twists and turns: time researching for a Master of Medical Sciences and PhD; years at home as a house dad; country hospital work, including completing a Diploma of Obstetrics; surviving five years of boarding school. He is an unpublished member of Queensland Writers Centre, plays piano (not well), and willingly takes long walks of companionship, joy and purpose. John is married with three adult children. He works with Mater’s Pastoral Care.

Even if you feel lost, your paths and your stories haven’t lost you. John knows that from experience. He looks forward to helping you find them.
