What a skin check looks like

Your concerns

Tell your GP which spots worry you. They'll give those areas extra attention from the start.

Preparation

To check thoroughly, your GP may ask you to remove makeup and/or clothing.

The examination

Your GP will perform a thorough skin check with a magnifying instrument called a dermatoscope; you'll typically start seated, then you'll lie down.

That's it!

After they've checked your skin, you can discuss the results and your next steps with your GP.
